About The Position

The Athletics Communications Assistant will serve as the media relations contact for assigned sport(s). The responsibility of this position includes: Coordinating interviews and working with external media entities including print, radio, social media, web and tv for local, regional and national requests. Tie creative, promotional and informational content into a cohesive message benefitting teams and student-athletes. Interviews, press releases, recaps, feature stories, social media content, video and photo content will be used to deliver this information. Assist in the overall social media management and strategy for assigned sport(s). Uses Sidearm Sports backend, Stat Crew, Genius Live Stats. Offers support of broadcasts and live streams as needed. Acts as the lead statistician for assigned sport(s), responsible for doing live stats at events while training student and part-time staff as needed. May be responsible for game day staff and other in-game statistical duties. Generating almanacs, quick facts, game notes and other published material for in-house and external uses. Keep an archive of UNF records from local media, submit information on athletes in various sports for athlete honors through NCAA, Conference, CoSIDA, and governing sports bodies. Build and maintain photo files; provide information to other on-campus departments for public relation brochures and publications, catalogs, annual reports, etc. Statement(s) of Understanding This position requires a background check. In conjunction with the University's policy, this position may also require a credit check. The holder of this position is designated as a "Responsible Employee" pursuant to their role under Title IX. Therefore, the incumbent must promptly report allegations of sexual misconduct, sexual violence, and child sexual abuse by or against any student, employee, contractor, or visitor to the University's Title IX Administrator or any divisional Title IX Coordinator The holder of this position is responsible for any NCAA and Atlantic Sun Conference bylaws and guidelines that a member of the UNF Athletic Compliance Department provides in addition to all UNF regulations. The individual must also assure that NCAA, Conference and UNF regulations are followed to the best of their knowledge and any violations thereof are reported to UNF Athletic Compliance.
