About The Position

Sponsored Projects Officer (Subawards & Grant Agreements) This position is part of the enterprise Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) and supports the administration of grant-related contracts and subawards across Intermountain Health’s research portfolio. The role centers on the review, negotiation, execution, and lifecycle management of grant funded agreements, including subawards and state, local, and nonprofit grant agreements. It supports sponsored projects across a large, multi-state integrated health system and requires familiarity with associated operational, regulatory, and compliance considerations. The position collaborates closely with investigators, research operations, finance, legal, compliance, and external sponsors and subrecipients to ensure agreements are compliant and operationally executable. Responsibilities also include subrecipient monitoring and oversight, such as risk assessment, documentation review, and ongoing compliance monitoring. Familiarity with data sharing, privacy and security requirements, and health system–based research operations is beneficial.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated professional experience within research administration and grants management.
  • Strong communication and organization skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively under pressure.
  • Must have solid judgment and capacity to exercise discretion to resolve ambiguity and promote effective solutions.
  • Must have a strong commitment to constructively contribute to a customer service environment, providing professional, timely, efficient, and courteous service to the university research community.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Education will be verified
  • Experience with the use of Grants.Gov, NSF Fastlane / Research.gov, NIH eRA Commons / ASSIST.
  • Experience in contract administration and negotiation.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a subject matter expert for grant and/or contract management, provides expert advice and guidance on research proposals, awards, contracts and administrative processes.
  • Provides guidance on budget preparation and design with Investigator for grant, contract and subcontract applications.
  • Reviews proposals, grant requests, and/or contracts for completeness and assists with the adherence of required institutional documentation and deadlines.
  • Analyzes proposals, awards and agreements for compliance and consistency with federals and state laws and regulations, institutional policies, research compliance restrictions and guidelines, financial and academic requirements, and agency policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a current knowledge of federal and state requirements, institutional policies and procedures governing externally funded grants and contracts.
  • Requests additional and supplemental approvals from funding sponsor when required by a grant or contract. This includes serving as an organizational representative for administering federal sponsored projects.
  • Negotiates terms and conditions with external entities for sponsored projects.
