About The Position

The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) is a unit of University Research Services & Administration (URSA) under the Office of the Vice President for Research & Economic Development. OSP is dedicated to facilitating research excellence at GSU. We provide comprehensive support and assistance throughout the grant lifecycle, from proposal submission to the management and closeout of sponsored projects. Our team works closely with faculty, department administrators, and administrative staff across the university to ensure compliance and maximize the impact of research at GSU. The Office of Sponsored Programs at Georgia State University is seeking to hire a Sponsored Programs Officer (Temp). WHAT MAKES GSU A GREAT PLACE? Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of related experience; or a high school or GED and six years of related experience; or a combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of pre-award research administration experience.
  • Word, Excel, PeopleSoft, Spectrum.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting GSU researchers and campus research administrators by providing technical assistance and guidance in the development and preparation of proposal submissions.
  • Reviewing proposal submissions to ensure compliance with GSU requirements, sponsor requirements and the Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards.
  • Using and maintaining expertise in a variety of sponsor proposal submission systems such as Research.gov, Grants.gov, Cayuse, Assist, Proposal Central and NASA NSPIRES.
  • Reviewing proposal budgets for accuracy and compliance with GSU and sponsor requirements.
  • Reviewing award documents received from sponsors for terms and compliance, as well as working with the PI and campus research administrators to determine acceptability.
  • Ensuring all internal compliance approvals have been received, including COI, IRB, IACUC, and Biosafety.
  • Confirming internal budget accuracy and compliance with sponsor budget.
  • Preparing awards accurately for set up in GSU’s Spectrum financial system in compliance with GSU guidance.
  • Reviewing and processing just-in-time requests, no cost extensions, non-competing continuations, progress reports and contract modifications.
  • Communicating with sponsors as a GSU authorized official.
  • Reviewing and submitting requests to sponsors including carryforward requests, PI change requests and other prior approval requests.
