The Analyst, Payroll is required to provide accounting services and expertise in the development of accounting processes and procedures for providers (doctor). This includes monitoring all tasks necessary to accomplish payroll processing objectives. This position works closely with Finance to ensure payroll is processed accurately and in compliance with state and federal regulations. The incumbent must be dedicated to accurate and timely processing of payroll, with strong problem resolution capabilities, a commitment to process improvement. Additionally, this position will produce reports to requisite departments and management as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources or related field, and 2+ years of relevant work experience. In lieu of degree, 4+ years of experience is required
  • Knowledge of general payroll practices, Federal and State regulations and SOX controls
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal, multi-state, and local tax regulations
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting and general ledger journal entry processing
  • Ability to multi-task effectively without compromising the quality of the work
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a multi-regional healthcare, retail, or dental company
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification
  • Master’s Degree or CPA preferred
  • Experience in Ulti Pro Payroll or similar systems implementation experience

Responsibilities

  • Accurate and timely processing of the semi-monthly payroll
  • Responsible for explaining payroll procedures, practices and policies to regional management and employees. Facilitates management and employee understanding of payroll procedures
  • Analyze current procedures and practices to look for efficiency, effectiveness, and opportunities to streamline processes amongst Payroll, Finance, and other key partners
  • Develops, recommends, and implements new approaches to payroll policies and procedures to effect continual improvements and efficiency within the department
  • Responsible for testing system upgrades and system changes as it pertains to pay policies, practices and procedures for payroll and time and labor processing
  • Provide training to the regions for time and labor and Payroll self-service, as needed
  • Perform various journal entries, account reconciliations, and provide General Ledger support
  • Conduct routine audits of all fields in the Payroll system and assist with external audit requests as needed. Finalizes year-end reconciliation audits and reports
  • Analyzes, prepares and inputs payroll data ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws
  • Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.) for management
  • Remain current on new legislation and regulatory ruling impacting payroll
  • Enforce adherence to such requirements and advise management as necessary on required actions
  • Responsible for maintaining all doctor documentation related to Payroll as dictated by governing agencies
  • Ensures accurate adherence to classification of doctors in accordance with the FLSA and state criteria
  • Performs other duties as assigned my management or as may be necessary
