About The Position

Specialist, Knowledge Management and Communication Join us and help strengthen PAHO’s country-focused impact through knowledge and communication The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO), is seeking a motivated, results-oriented and collaborative Specialist, Knowledge Management and Communication to strengthen institutional knowledge, enhance information sharing, and support effective communication across the Organization, with a strong focus on country-level technical cooperation. Under the direct supervision of the Head, Office of Country and Subregional Coordination (CSC), the selected candidate will: Support the overall knowledge management and communication functions of the Office, including the maintenance and regular updating of CSC intranet and internet pages. Develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate knowledge management and information-sharing strategies and activities in collaboration with CSC and relevant partners. Establish, maintain, and improve digital platforms and systems for storing, organizing, and sharing institutional knowledge, including SharePoint and OneDrive repositories. Facilitate the documentation, systematization, and dissemination of good practices and lessons learned to preserve organizational memory and promote learning. Support internal and external communication initiatives, including country focus communication strategies, reports, meetings, workshops, and capacity‑building activities. Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in information sciences, information management, knowledge management, communications, social sciences, international relations, or any other field related to the functions of the post from a recognized university.
  • Five years of combined national and international experience working in the area of information and knowledge management and/or communication projects.
  • Very good knowledge of English or Spanish with working knowledge of the other language.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use current technology and software, as well as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP).
  • Other IT skills and knowledge of software programs such as Microsoft Excel, Outlook, OneDrive, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and Word are considered essential.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of knowledge management, communication, and information sharing.
  • Ability to develop and implement knowledge management strategies, systems, and digital platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills to organize, synthesize, and disseminate complex information.
  • Ability to document and systematize good practices and lessons learned.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including drafting reports and presentations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and diverse stakeholder

Nice To Haves

  • Training in emerging technologies and methodologies for knowledge management and communication would be an asset.
  • A master’s degree in public health, public policy, social sciences, international relations/cooperation, political science or a related field from an accredited institution would be an asset.
  • Progressively responsible experience in public health, international relations, social development, or the management of programs and projects within international organizations would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of French and/or Portuguese would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of Web2.0 concepts, Virtual Collaboration tools; open‑source tools such as Joomla, etc. would be desirable.
