About The Position

Administers and manages activities within a specific area of responsibility. Serves as the subject matter expert and applies gained knowledge to execute, maintain and improve systems, programs, or processes identify students, determine needs and provide support to eliminate barriers to increase academic success. Ensure the district compliance and execution of mandated ESSA programs. Responsible for providing educational services and resources. Coordinates services and provides direct support for HMY students, families, and the community

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3 or more years of experience in community development and student/family advocacy required
  • Reliable transportation - frequent travel throughout the district is required
  • Knowledge with Google Suite
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies Highly Mobile Youth (McKinney-Vento, Foster Care, Military, Migrant Education) in IC and determine eligible services needed for high quality education
  • Manages caseload of HMY services, conducts student/family/shelter visits, providing mentorship and advocacy services to students to achieve educational goals, and providing information and resources to families, making referrals as needed
  • Attends family meetings, IEP meetings and relevant school events that foster relationships with families; maintains consistent communication with caseworkers, families, school staff and other stakeholders to address the ongoing educational and emotional progress of students
  • Assist in school enrollment and best educational interest placements for eligible students
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with community agencies within the assigned region or schools
  • Provide opportunities within the program, school and community to expose students to a variety of positive, enriching, learning, and cultural experiences
  • Document and maintain all required records, forms and files required for reporting or auditing purposes
  • Other duties as assigned
