This role will work on a hybrid schedule coming into the Columbus, Ohio office 2 days per week on Wednesdays and Thursdays. This position will report to the Manager, Data Leader for the CIA team. The CIA team stands for Claims, Internet of Things (IoT) and Advanced Analytics Data Engineering. The data solution analyst role is part of a high performing team that supports multiple data domains with a strong emphasis on claims and is constantly evolving to meet the needs of the P&C data organization. Candidates should be comfortable with ambiguity and rapidly changing directives. Candidates should possess strong relationship building skills and be able to enable strong delivery through partnerships. The data solution analyst responsibilities will include identifying and addressing data anomalies, inconsistencies, and gaps. Data solution analyst must be capable of understanding, updating, and creating detailed technical documentation, including data dictionaries, process flows, and system specifications. The data solution analyst communicates requirements and technical solutions to development teams and stakeholders. Additionally, the role requires experience in defining data quality rules and perform data profiling. Ideal candidates will have: Self-starter, wholistic thinker, problem solver, effective storyteller and be a strong communicator in a diverse (technical and non-technical) stakeholder community. Experience working within the Property & Casualty Insurance domain, with a solid grasp of underwriting, policy administration, and especially claims management. In-depth knowledge of the entire claims lifecycle—from FNOL (First Notice of Loss) through adjudication, settlement, reserving and subrogation. Ability to identify data opportunities across each stage to improve operational efficiency and customer outcomes. Experience working with business and technical users to capture functional and non-functional requirements, drive epic breakdown with team and facilitate team estimation, release planning, and ensure requirements traceability. Experience working with data models, source to target data mappings, data lineage processes, understanding of data governance practices and data definitions to identify attribute gaps in current operational and analytical solutions. Proficiency in requirements management is a pre-requisite. Experience in managing requirements for multiple efforts in parallel is a pre-requisite. Capability to elaborate and understand current and needed derived attributes with business rules, aggregate conditions, and KPIs for documentation. Experience in agile methodology is a pre-requisite. Ability to profile the data and run advanced queries using SQL in Databricks, Teradata, Postgres, Oracle to be able to gather requirements with a design thinking mindset. As a Data Solution Analyst, you’ll translate functional data and analytic requirements into solutions for consumption and use by the respective business or technology request or leveraging a variety of approved technologies. The technologies include (but are not limited to) Paxata, Tableau, Micro strategy, Business Objects, R, or other reporting and visualization solutions being considered for operationalization. You’ll also have the opportunity to guide others to leverage self-service techniques for business reporting and analytics.

  • Two to five years of relevant experience with data management/ organization/ analytics or practices.
  • Experience in with data visualization tools, reporting and self-service analytic techniques.
  • Experience in application of data acquisition and data wrangling.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Elicits reporting and analytic requirements from business and technology requestors to generate visualization or analysis.
  • Supports implementation of data requirements and practices for an assigned area.
  • Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Under supervision creates and executes standard visualization techniques.
  • Uses visualization and analysis techniques to present findings of data exploration exercises to stakeholders based on requirements gleaned.
  • Maps the flow of data and the business processes and/or technical interfaces which would be created or impacted and recommends solutions/adaptations.
  • Collaborates with others to implement standardized data reporting, analytics, and visualization tools.
  • Works on profiling, mapping, and modeling tools.
  • With guidance may partner with others on projects requiring data visualization.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
