THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED AN HOURLY RATE OF $19.50 The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services and provides subsidized childcare vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement, and programs for youth in the community. ACS' Division of Family Permanency Services (FPS) strives to ensure children and youth in foster care receive high-quality services designed to help them achieve permanency, remain safe while in care, and improve their overall well-being. FPS provides guidance on child welfare policies and procedures to foster care agencies, delivers technical assistance to strengthen providers' practice, coordinates and arranges for concrete services/resources, and provides direct case planning to children not placed with an agency. The Division includes the Offices of Provider Agency Collaboration and Engagement, Strategic Program Support, Older Youth Development Services, and Youth Success Services. FPS’ Office of the Deputy Commissioner is responsible for overseeing Central Operations and ensuring administrative processes are in place to support effective operations, manage the FPS personnel budget, and support staff recruitment and personnel actions. FPS is seeking 1 highly motivated and detail-oriented Special Projects Undergraduate Intern to join our Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Central Operations team. As a Special Projects Undergraduate Intern, you will support our team in day-to day operations and contribute to ongoing projects aimed at providing high-quality services for children and youth in foster care. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to various aspects of FPS operations designed to help youth achieve permanency, remain safe while in care, and improve their overall well-being. Additionally, as a member of the 2026, ACS Summer Internship Program cohort, you will participate in an enrichment program designed to fully engage students into the ACS and NYC government experience. Internship programming includes professional development workshops, lunch and learns, speaker events, NYC government tours, and networking opportunities.
