Special Operations Planner – Joint Strategy & Mission Support The Ascendancy Group’s Mission To be the unequaled provider of special operations forces (SOF) and Intelligence Community focused technical, service, and training-based solutions. Overview The Ascendancy Group is seeking a highly experienced Special Operations Planner to support USCENTCOM’s strategic planning and operational coordination across the full spectrum of special operations. This role demands deep expertise in SOF mission sets, joint command environments, and interagency synchronization. You’ll play a critical role in aligning Special Operations Forces (SOF) support with USCENTCOM’s mission and priorities. This position is contingent upon contract award. Security Requirement: A Top-Secret/SCI Clearance is required

Requirements

  • Graduate of the Special Operations Planning Course (SOPC)
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the Special Operations Community
  • Minimum 3 years of experience at a Joint or Combined Command Headquarters
  • Deep understanding of SOF core missions and operational environments
  • Strong analytical, coordination, and communication skills
  • A Top-Secret/SCI Clearance is required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with USCENTCOM or in the CENTCOM AOR
  • Familiarity with interagency and coalition planning environments
  • Understanding of FOIA/MDR legal frameworks and information security protocols

Responsibilities

  • Develop and align Special Operations plans, orders, and CONOPs with USCENTCOM’s strategic objectives and Commander’s priorities.
  • Coordinate and synchronize SOF planning efforts across joint, multinational, and interagency contexts.
  • Advise USCENTCOM leadership on SOF employment and utilization, leveraging technical expertise and cognitive problem-solving to address complex operational challenges.
  • Ensure synchronization of SOF planning and execution across DoD components, interagency partners, allied forces, and coalition entities within the USCENTCOM Area of Responsibility (AOR).
  • Provide SOF expertise to current operations and support other special activities as required.
  • Manage and coordinate FOIA and Mandatory Declassification Review (MDR) requests in accordance with legal standards and USCENTCOM directives. Conduct thorough file searches and advise CCJ5 on safeguarding and dissemination of sensitive information.
