About The Position

The Spa and Fitness Manager oversees the daily operations of both the Spa and Fitness departments to ensure exceptional member service, operational efficiency, and overall satisfaction. This role is responsible for managing staff across fitness, spa locker rooms, front desk, and wellness programming, while maintaining high standards for facilities, services, and team performance. The Manager plays a key leadership role in developing programming, managing budgets, and fostering a positive, service-driven environment aligned with The Polo Club’s standards.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Hospitality Management, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in fitness, spa, or club management
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Strong command of the English language (verbal and written)
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from members, staff, and management
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions and analyze financial data, including budgets and payroll
  • Ability to apply sound judgment and problem-solving skills in a variety of operational situations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with payroll, scheduling, and spa/club management software preferred
  • Nationally recognized fitness certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate fitness staff (personal trainers, Pilates instructors, front desk) and spa locker room attendants.
  • Coach, counsel, and develop team members to ensure high performance, engagement, and exceptional service standards.
  • Maintain staff certifications and ensure compliance with all required licensing and training.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented culture focused on member satisfaction and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee daily operations of fitness facilities, spa locker rooms, and wellness services to ensure cleanliness, safety, and efficiency.
  • Address member concerns promptly and professionally to maintain a high level of satisfaction.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty as scheduled.
  • Ensure all areas reflect a professional and welcoming environment consistent with Club standards.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive, year-round fitness and wellness program for all member demographics.
  • Implement strategies to grow personal training and wellness services through events, workshops, and promotions.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Spa and Fitness to enhance service offerings and member engagement.
  • Assist in developing and managing departmental budgets, including payroll, expenses, and revenue targets.
  • Monitor staffing levels and scheduling to align with budgeted goals.
  • Process payroll, invoices, and purchase orders in accordance with Club policies.
  • Oversee inventory management, including ordering and maintaining supplies, linens, amenities, and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and operational documentation.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and preventative care of all fitness and spa equipment and facilities.
  • Uphold safety standards, including first aid readiness and emergency procedures.
  • Monitor locker assignments, inventory systems, and operational procedures for efficiency.
  • Attend and lead meetings, training sessions, and departmental briefings.
  • Communicate effectively with members, staff, and senior leadership.
  • Support cross-department collaboration to enhance overall club operations.
  • Maintain professionalism and a positive image of The Polo Club at all times.
  • Comply with all policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Spa and Fitness.
