The Sourcing Manager is responsible for partnering with Design, Merchandising, and Planning teams to create strategies and drive decisions regarding cost, margin, vendor placement, fabric optimization, and fabrications and trims. The incumbent is also responsible for creating processes and systems that support the company’s margin goals, sourcing strategies and plans, and social compliance. This role must be based in Southern Tide's Headquarters of Greenville, South Carolina.

Responsibilities

  • Direct Design team on price/cost estimates and vendor placement, keeping all in line with costing and margin management strategy.
  • Create comprehensive vendor and costing strategies to enable long-term gross margin expansion.
  • Calculate target cost and communicate costing strategy to all cross-functional partners and ensure cost targets are communicated to suppliers at the beginning of each season’s development.
  • Track and determine if margin goals are being met throughout line development and pre-production.
  • Partner with Planning on short-term and long-term projections to leverage buys and negotiate costs.
  • Oversee and manage style-level cost negotiations.
  • Proactively manage development challenges and changes by providing costing guidance and targets to vendors.
  • Research, source and innovate brand appropriate fabrics and trims.
  • Source new fabrics and trims with vendors to stay relevant to the market and improve functionality of products.
  • Ensure rationalization of fabrications for effective use of resources and as part of an aggressive costing strategy as well as eliminating fabric risk and liabilities.
  • Establish protocols for the sourcing process (testing parameters, quality control, product safety, multiple samples per style, etc.).
  • Lead future category strategies and provide appropriate and timely direction to the cross-functional team.
  • Communicate seasonal product strategies to current and potential vendors.
  • Manage vendor relationships to strengthen partnerships and to better understand sourcing capabilities, negotiate costs (including development cost), negotiate lead-times, and source innovation.
  • Onboarding of vendors and management of overseas product team activities.
  • Research and develop new vendors and markets to determine opportunities for production, resulting in shorter lead times, potential cost savings, better quality, and greater flexibility.
  • Develop and maintain a sourcing guide of all locations and their capabilities by product, fabrication, and country.
  • Influence the makeup and strategy of the line via in-depth product/cost analysis, QC expectations and product safety.
  • Create, analyze, and present seasonal product margin reporting to leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Management of Southern Tide Corporate Calendar and accountability of all teams involved.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain multi-season product margin reporting.
  • Actively look for opportunities to improve and streamline processes to reduce costs and maximize profits.
  • Assist with other projects and duties as needed to help support the overall business.
