Our sawmill facility is looking for a motivated Day Shift Sorter Operator to help keep lumber moving efficiently and accurately through our operation. Position Summary The Sorter Operator is responsible for sorting, organizing, and directing lumber according to size, grade, and quality standards. This role ensures accurate separation of materials while maintaining production speed and safety throughout the shift.

Requirements

• Previous sawmill or manufacturing experience preferred (but willing to train motivated candidates)
• Strong attention to detail and quality standards
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift as required
• Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
• Team-oriented mindset

Responsibilities

• Sort lumber by size, species, and grade according to company standards
• Identify and remove defective or damaged boards
• Maintain steady production flow on sorter line
• Stack, band, or direct lumber to appropriate locations
• Communicate with supervisors and team members to maintain efficiency
• Monitor equipment for proper operation and report issues
• Keep work area clean and free of debris
• Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements
