SONHP CNA _ Clinical Instructor

University of San FranciscoSan Francisco, CA

About The Position

The Certified Nurse Assistant Training (CNA) was developed and implemented in Fall 2014 by Rev. Timothy S. Godfrey, SJ, to provide low-income high school students from Cristo Rey Schools an opportunity to gain experience, skills, and a certification upon which to build their future professional healthcare careers. This program targets students considering nursing or other healthcare professions. It seeks to diversify the healthcare workforce by creating a pipeline for students from underserved communities who may not otherwise consider a healthcare career. The CNA Program aligns with the mission of the University of San Francisco School of Nursing and Health Professions (SONHP) and the Cristo Rey network schools in assisting students to discover and develop their full potential, to seek academic excellence, and to use their talents and gifts in the service of others. The community partners share in this commitment, specifically to develop skilled and compassionate healthcare professionals. The CNA Program is part of the SONHP, which provides administrative and instructional support for the program. The Clinical Instructor will lead the CA DPH CNA program licensing process, complete the necessary documentation -including the curriculum, modules, and team -and be responsible for keeping the license up-to-date. When the program is active, the Clinical Instructor plans and teaches the theory modules and supervises the students during their clinical experience. They evaluate each student according to the school's grading standard and work with students to make up any missed classes or clinical experiences. The Instructor reviews the students' progress with the school's Principal at mutually agreeable points throughout the curriculum and will notify the Principal of any concerns regarding student performance. The Clinical Instructor educates and evaluates the students according to the guidelines provided by the state. Position goal: Relaunch and implement the USF CNA program. Time: November and December, 16 hours per week Flexible hour Report directly to the SONHP Director for Partnerships and Communications
