The Opportunity This role sits at the intersection of custom application developer, Quality Assurance engineer, and Level 3 customer support engineer. You'll build and refine custom microservices/applications, design and run test strategies (manual + automation), and serve as a senior escalation point for complex customer issues-especially those touching our web apps and APIs. You'll collaborate closely with Customers and Product Engineering to ship high‑quality features and ensure a best‑in‑class customer experience across our live and on‑demand video platform. Location: This position will be located in the Greater Washington DC are- DC, Maryland, Virginia and will require to work one day a week in our Herndon office or for team meetings as required.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in software quality, fullstack/frontend engineering, and/or technical support for cloud/SaaS products (senior‑level ownership expected).
  • Proficiency with TypeScript/JavaScript, node.js, Angular (or similar SPA), node.js, C#.
  • Experience with API integration - consuming RESTful APIs, 3rd party SDKs, Authentication and authorization strategies and protocols
  • Browser‑level debugging, scripting, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with cross-browser differences and Web APIs (Permissions Policy, cookies, CORS, CSP)
  • Comfortable across Windows, Linux macOS; confident troubleshooting networks (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; thrives in Agile, cross‑functional settings.
  • Experience working directly with clients/stakeholders/partners

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with B2B and browser security technologies: TLS/authentication/user - management protocols/B2B technologies (example terms SCIM/SAML/Okta/LDAP/TLS 1.3/CORS/CSP/Proxies)
  • Experience with task-oriented scripting and automation (i.e. PowerShell/javascript/python), automated testing (e.g., Selenium/Cypress/Postman), and CI tools (e.g., Jenkins/Github Actions).
  • Strong QA foundation: creating test plans/cases, functional/regression/integration testing, API testing with Postman/SoapUI, and defect lifecycle in Jira.
  • Familiarity with MongoDB, Elasticsearch, SQL, NoSQL stores (Redis/DynamoDB), and modern frontend tooling (e.g. Webpack/vite, npm/yarn).
  • Knowledge of video streaming and eCDN technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an escalation point for complex product issues spanning application behavior, integrations, configuration, upgrades, and networking (TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs).
  • Help Vbrick adopt/adapt to evergreen browser technologies and protocols, and the changing web ecosystem. Test/consult/document/troubleshoot/advise on evergreen browser technologies, new protocols/standards and other trends
  • Develop and maintain SDKs, libraries and sample code to support developer adoption and ecosystem integration, including integration with partner solutions (Appspace/Pexip/Microsoft).
  • Architect/Develop/maintain bespoke microservices/adapters/custom-built solutions for unique customer requirements
  • Develop/maintain automation scripts for API/task automation (javascript/PowerShell/python/Postman or similar) and testing (e.g., Puppeteer/Vitest/Postman/JMeter or similar).
  • Track quality metrics, defects, and releases using Jira/Confluence; collaborate with distributed teams and participate in Agile ceremonies.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues with Vbrick EVP (cloud), Vbrick Private (intranet) and custom application products; document findings; coordinate with stakeholders on defects and fixes.
