About The Position

We're seeking a Solutions Architect to join our West Coast Solutions Architecture team and help drive customer success. In this role, you’ll lead technical evaluations, deliver compelling demos, and serve as a trusted advisor throughout the customer journey. You’ll work closely with our largest, most strategic accounts, helping them unlock value from dbt and scale their analytics practices. We’re especially looking for candidates based in — the Bay Area to enable deeper collaboration with their sales counterpart.

Requirements

• Experience as a sales engineer, solutions architect, or consulting in data operations, analytics, or BI
• Proven hands-on experience with SQL, ETL, and data modeling
• Strong understanding of modern data stacks and cloud data warehousing
• Effective communicator—able to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences
• Ability to gather and translate technical and business requirements into concrete solutions
• Excellent written, and in-person communication skills to discuss complex topics with both technical and non-technical audiences
• Adaptable in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities
• A passion for being an inclusive teammate and involved member of the community
• Experienced with dbt Core or Cloud

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience working at an analytics, ETL, BI, and/or open-sourced software
• Knowledge of or prior experience with dbt
• Familiarity with modeling approaches like dimensional modeling, Data Vault, or 3NF
• Background in legacy ETL tooling (Informatica, Talend, Boomi)

Responsibilities

• Design modern, enterprise-scale data architectures using dbt Cloud
• Partner with Sales to demonstrate the technical value of dbt Labs solutions
• Lead proof-of-concept engagements and technical evaluations for prospective customers
• Work with engineering to deploy dbt Cloud in private clouds for enterprise clients
• Manage the full customer lifecycle, from pre-sales through onboarding and adoption
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to influence the enterprise roadmap
• Enable strategic partners (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, AWS) in their implementation of dbt
• Engage in the dbt Community and contribute to thought leadership
