The Solutions Performance Engineer provides comprehensive analysis and performance evaluation for Aclara’s Smart Infrastructure Solutions across all AMI technologies, with primary emphasis on Aclara’s Power Line Communication (PLC) technology, specifically the TWACS® platform. This role requires hands-on experience with utility operations and PLC communication systems. #LI-SL1A Day In The Life Use data analytics to identify, analyze, investigate, and document performance patterns, with a focus on PLC/TWACS network behavior. Investigate and troubleshoot unexpected system or product performance issues—remotely and in field deployments. Conduct deep analysis of powerline signal propagation, communication success rates, transformer-level impacts, feeder conditions, and TWACS message performance. Prepare detailed reports with findings, root cause analyses, and recommended corrective actions. Support utility clients during KPI review sessions related to PLC/TWACS performance. Communicate with utility operations teams and Aclara leadership regarding issues impacting PLC/TWACS system performance. Identify improvements to processes, tools, and technologies. What will help you thrive in this role?Required: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field or equivalent technical field experience. Direct experience working with utilities, utility operations, or AMI systems. Hands-on experience with PLC communication technologies—preferably TWACS®. Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills. Experience with data collection and analysis tools. Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Preferred: Experience with Python, SQL, or VB. Experience with visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau). Familiarity with AMI communication principles across RF, cellular, and PLC. Understanding of electrical distribution systems supporting PLC propagation. Physical Demands: Frequent walking and sitting. Ability to travel up to 25%. Ability to lift equipment up to 50 lbs.
