About The Position

Performs work responsible for collecting recyclables and refuse on residential routes the City of Cape Girardeau.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• Must comply with Missouri CDL requirements and possess and maintain a valid Class “B” or better CDL with air brake endorsement.
• Before final appointment, successful applicant will be required to successfully complete a drug test, background investigation and pre-employment physical.

Responsibilities

• Collects refuse and recyclables throughout the city.
• Assists with dumping materials at the Transfer Station and Recycling Center.
• Performs the work of Solid Waste Driver in his or her absence.
• Responds to emergency call out situations as required.
• Assists with pickup of appliances, compost and bulk refuse during Wednesday special trash collections.
• Assists with the Recycling Facility as assigned; processes recyclable, operates Recycling Center equipment and maintains the grounds around the Recycling Center.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
