About The Position

Eaton Corporation’s Software Applications Enterprise Center of Excellence has an opening for an Engineering Manager, Software Applications, who is passionate about developing and managing a high performing engineering team focused on developing best in class cloud-based software applications for the Data Center segment. In this role, you will manage the software development team for Brightlayer Remote Monitoring Application for Data Center segment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Software Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in managing or leading engineering teams
  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience in delivering enterprise and/or cloud native software solutions.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in software development.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with Agile development methodologies and concepts.
  • No relocation is offered. Only candidates residing within a 50‑mile radius of Raleigh, NC; or Woodridge, IL will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in software and/or IoT product development.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in managing global high-performance engineering organizations.
  • 3 years of experience leading development teams in modern software architecture (SOA and EDA), cloud native design, use of modular design patterns and microservices.
  • Prior experience developing software for Industry 4.0, IoT connected products, creating APIs and applications (desktop, mobile, web, cloud).
  • Experience ensuring cybersecurity practices in enterprise software and cloud applications.
  • Experience leading and coaching new and experienced software developers or engineers.
  • Experience working in the industrial markets preferably in power management and/or process monitoring space.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively explain complex technical concepts to a wide variety of audiences, high learning agility, and great follow-through in meeting commitments.
  • Ability to communicate and influence multiple groups including marketing, product management, quality, and executive leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, lead, manage and mentor an agile global engineering team of 10+ personnel located in the US and India. Team shall include direct reports in the USA along with functional reports in EIIC Pune. Team would be composed of software development leads, developers, and testers, which designs, implements, tests, and supports the software applications for Brightlayer Remote Monitoring supporting UPS, PDU, and other product lines.
  • Oversee software development and delivery of software features for Brightlayer monitoring applications in the Data Center segment. Drive execution of software delivery compliance to software excellence practices, software quality metrics and agile execution metrics.
  • Oversee software development and delivery of software features for Brightlayer EPMS application in the Data Center segment. Drive execution of software delivery compliance to software excellence practices, software quality metrics and agile execution metrics.
  • Management responsibilities include technical facilitation, budget allocation, hiring, one-on-one meetings with directs, performance reviews, career guidance, technical capability assessments, software selection, and interfacing with internal and external partners.
  • Deliver software centric features for Divisional products by partnering with DIT, CPS, and DPQ EMEA business unit stakeholders within the Data Center segment. Collaborate with Divisional engineering counterparts on systems integration and testing strategy.
  • Partner with peer leaders in the software development lifecycle. Specifically, this role shall partner with agile front-end operations and software PMO and deployment operations roles.
  • Partner with Brightlayer Platforms and Center for Intelligent Power on integrating technologies into software solutions and analytics offerings.
  • Manage day-to-day technical execution of software product development by empowering teams and provide guidance to address critical issues and decisions. Execute and govern practices of design, development and delivery to meet or exceed Eaton software excellence standards.
  • Manage outsourcing partners as needed to augment team capabilities. Negotiate MSAs & SOWs in conjunction with supply chain management.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, drive innovation, and manage a technical roadmap for Data Center Remote Monitoring product line.
