About Bright Light Bright Light Medical Imaging is a physician-run practice redefining diagnostic imaging with innovation, compassion, and precision. For over a decade, we’ve combined cutting-edge technology with a human touch to make medical imaging more accessible and patient-centered. We’re looking for an innovative Software Engineer to help us modernize healthcare workflows, optimize data systems, and build scalable digital tools that improve the patient and provider experience. Software Engineer – Bright Light Medical Imaging Location: On-site Arlington Heights, IL Employment Type: Full-time Department: Technology & Operations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proficient in: Python JavaScript / Node.js Mirth engine and HL7 messaging, required Web frameworks (e.g., React, Express, Flask, or FastAPI)
  • Strong understanding of API design , database management (SQL/NoSQL) , and cloud-based environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) .
  • Experience building secure and reliable web apps from concept to deployment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest or experience in healthcare technology is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain web applications and internal tools to streamline imaging workflows and reporting systems.
  • Develop and integrate data pipelines and APIs that connect scheduling, billing, and imaging platforms.
  • Possess knowledge and experience building and working with Mirth engine and HL7 messaging.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to translate operational challenges into effective software solutions.
  • Work across the full development stack — from backend logic (Python, Node.js) to frontend experiences (JavaScript, React, HTML/CSS) .
  • Ensure high standards of security, data integrity, and HIPAA compliance.
  • Continuously test, refine, and optimize applications for performance, scalability, and usability.
  • Participate in brainstorming and architecture discussions to drive innovation in healthcare technology.
