Role Summary The Software Engineer Sr Specialist serves as a hands-on technical leader supporting Sales and Marketing Technology. This role designs, builds, and oversees scalable, secure, and integrated solutions across SaaS platforms, custom applications, and AI-enabled capabilities. The Sr Specialist actively develops production solutions while guiding technical direction, mentoring engineers, and influencing architecture decisions—particularly around the responsible adoption of AI. This role reports to IT Manager - Software Engineering - Application Delivery. This hybrid position will be based out of our Kansas City, Missouri office. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship, now or in the future.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field or equivalent professional experience demonstrating advanced software engineer and architectural capability
  • At least 8+ years software engineering experience with strong architectural judgment
  • At least 3+ years operating with clear architectural responsibility, such as: Owning solution design (not just implementing tickets). Making integration and platform decisions. Evaluating SaaS/vendor architectures. Balancing delivery speed with long-term scalability and security
  • Hands-on experience with modern application stacks (Java/Spring, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Node.js).
  • Strong integration experience (API-driven and service-based architectures).
  • Experience designing and integrating SaaS solutions, including Salesforce ecosystems (API and data flow knowledge required).
  • Working knowledge of applied AI/automation and integrating AI services into business workflows.
  • Cloud-native experience (containers, Kubernetes/OpenShift, CI/CD, observability tools).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical decisions into business impact

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in regulated or risk-sensitive environments.
  • Participation in architecture review boards or cross-domain technical leadership forums.
  • Experience leading vendor evaluations, RFPs, or technical POCs.
  • Familiarity with identity and access management (e.g., Okta, RBAC, MFA).
  • Experience contributing to AI governance, standards, or reusable engineering patterns.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build end-to-end solutions across applications, integrations, AI, security, and operations.
  • Lead technical solution design and act as a key advisor on architecture, patterns, and standards.
  • Drive practical and responsible adoption of AI within Sales and Marketing workflows.
  • Evaluate SaaS platforms, APIs, and vendors; support POCs and technical governance reviews.
  • Maintain the health and effectiveness of the existing tech stack by resolving issues that emerge, facilitating required maintenance and eliminating tech debt.
  • Partner with engineering, security, enterprise architecture, and vendors to deliver scalable solutions.
  • Mentor developers through design reviews, implementation guidance, and knowledge sharing
