About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer III to join Walmart's Home Page team. The ideal candidate demonstrates proficiency in web development with a strong willingness to learn new technologies and tools as our platform evolves. You will play a key role in building scalable, reliable, and high-performance website solutions that power Walmart’s site facing web app. About Team: Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in web development
  • Strong proficiency in: JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5 & CSS3, Modern frontend frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue)
  • Experience with backend technologies (Node.js, Java, Python, or similar)
  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs and web services
  • Experience with Git version control
  • Understanding of databases (SQL and/or NoSQL)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Experience with microservices architecture
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress, Selenium)
  • Understanding of DevOps practices
  • Experience with performance optimization and monitoring tools
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 2 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop highly scalable, resilient web applications serving millions of users
  • Own end-to-end delivery: architecture, development, testing, deployment, and production support
  • Build responsive, accessible, and high-performance frontend experiences
  • Develop robust backend services and APIs to support enterprise-grade applications
  • Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, design reviews, and best practices
  • Optimize systems for performance, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, UX, Data, and Platform teams
  • Contribute to architectural decisions aligned with Walmart’s technology strategy
  • Mentor junior engineers and influence technical direction within the team
  • Lead by example in operational excellence, observability, and incident management
