About The Position

Sam's Club is our membership warehouse club, a business model that provides our members with high-quality products at prices that are unrivaled by traditional retail. As a Software Engineer III on the Sam’s Club web engineering team, you will help shape and deliver engaging member-facing experiences for the community area of the Sam’s Club e-commerce platform. You will contribute to web application architecture, build scalable and high-quality features, and help drive strong performance, maintainability, and engineering excellence. In this role, you will collaborate closely with engineering, product, design, and business partners to deliver solutions that align with product strategy and member needs.

Requirements

  • Experience building modern web applications.
  • Solid understanding of frontend architecture, reusable component design, and scalable engineering practices.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, product, design, and business teams to support roadmap execution.
  • Experience improving software quality through unit testing, automation testing, and performance testing.
  • Ability to navigate existing complex systems, troubleshoot issues, and implement thoughtful enhancements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • A collaborative mindset and a bias toward ownership, continuous improvement, and delivery excellence.
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 2 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and maintain core features for the Sam’s Club web community experience.
  • Contribute to the technical direction and implementation of web solutions across e-commerce engineering initiatives.
  • Partner with engineering leaders, product managers, designers, and business stakeholders to create a cohesive approach to web application development.
  • Work within complex system architectures and enhance existing solutions with scalable, maintainable improvements.
  • Participate in design and technical discussions for small to medium-sized projects, helping define high-level solutions during discovery.
  • Review code from other engineers and provide clear, actionable feedback aligned with engineering best practices.
  • Prototype new ideas, evaluate emerging technologies, and support innovation through rapid experimentation.
  • Champion quality through strong testing practices, performance optimization, and reliable delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical partners to ensure alignment and clarity throughout execution.
