About The Position

We are looking for a Platform Engineer to join our Analytics and Visualization Platform team, focused on enabling analytics and visualization requirements on the Tableau Platform. In this role, you will manage Tableau administration, develop and expose services that drive retail stores, clubs, and e-commerce, and innovate automation to enhance usage, adaptability, and self-service options across the organization. The ideal candidate will support secure, reliable access to data and dashboards while driving best practices for data visualization at scale. Requirements

Strong Platform and Server Monitoring Skills: Experience with platform health monitoring, alerting, and server performance optimization.
Proficiency in Scripting and Automation: Skilled in UNIX shell scripting, PowerShell, automated job scheduling, and REST API, tabcmd programming using languages such as Go, Python, or Java.
Version Control Expertise: Hands-on experience with GitHub or similar version control tools for managing code and deployments.
SQL and Data Management: Solid SQL experience for querying, managing, and integrating data sources.
Broad Analytics and Visualization Tool Knowledge: Familiarity with a range of analytics and visualization technologies beyond Tableau (e.g., Power BI, Looker)
Experience with DevOps practices and tools for continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD)
Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
Option 2: 4 years' experience in software engineering or related area.

Masters: Computer Science

Responsibilities

Tableau Server Administration: Proficiency in installing, configuring, upgrading, high availability Tableau Server environments.
Manage and maintain Tableau Server, specifically in a Linux environment.
Troubleshoot issues related to Tableau Server operations, providing technical support for end-users. Collaborate with business analysts to understand reporting needs and recommend effective solutions
User and Permission Management: Experience managing user access, roles, and permissions to ensure data security and compliance.
Performance Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Ability to monitor server health, optimize performance, and resolve technical issues promptly.
Data Source and Extract Management: Skills in managing data connections, extracts, and schedules to ensure reliable and up-to-date reporting.
Automation and Scripting: Familiarity with scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and Tableau REST API, TABCMD for automating administrative tasks and deployments.
Provide coaching and support for Tableau users, promoting best practices in data visualization.
