About The Position

Clay is scaling fast - building out enterprise-grade product capabilities while preserving the speed, quality, and delight that define our product. We’re looking for an experienced frontend engineer who obsesses over quality, system design, and developer experience, and who’s excited to raise the frontend bar across the company.

This role has a broad, visible impact. You’ll shape frontend architecture, improve reliability at scale, accelerate development through best-in-class tooling and AI workflows, and mentor engineers to level up frontend excellence across Clay.

Requirements

• Deep experience building and scaling complex frontend applications.
• Strong understanding of frontend architecture, performance, and reliability.
• Passion for developer experience, tooling, and quality systems.
• Proven ability to mentor engineers and influence best practices across teams
• Comfort working cross-functionally with design, product, and other engineering teams.
• Pragmatic mindset: you balance long-term architectural thinking with shipping real value.
• You’re familiar with our current tech stack or can learn unfamiliar technologies quickly. Our current tech stack is: React, Typescript, Python, Node.js AWS services: Aurora (Postgres), Elasticache (Redis), Elastic Container Registry (ECR), ECS (Fargate), Lambda, OpenSearch IaC: Terraform Deployment tools: CircleCI, Netlify, Playwright Observability tools: Cloudwatch, Datadog, Mezmo

Responsibilities

• Set the standard for frontend excellence at Clay. You’ll be the go-to expert who raises the bar for quality, performance, and craft. You love mentoring engineers, shaping best practices, and building guardrails that make great frontend work the default.
• Build a frontend platform that scales with Clay. You’ll modernize the stack, evolve the design system, and tackle foundational reliability and enterprise-readiness challenges so teams can confidently build complex, high-impact products that delight our users.
• Accelerate how teams ship. You’ll create a best-in-class frontend toolbox, streamline state management and data flows, and dramatically improve developer experience - unlocking faster iteration without sacrificing quality.
• Lead the future of AI-assisted development. You’ll define how AI fits into our engineering workflows, enabling engineers, designers, and PMs to safely contribute to the codebase while scaling quality, velocity, and leverage across the company.
