About The Position

This position resides in the Technology Services Division of Department of Revenue. The incumbent performs a variety of duties assigned by management. Duties include programming, troubleshooting, and end user support. The incumbent will work with a team of developers that support GenTax, the Department’s tax system. All coding will be performed in C#. The position does not supervise other staff. An average day in this position starts with a review of assigned tasks. Tasks come in the form of a Service Request (SR). SRs are user submitted requests for enhancements/fixes to the software. For example, GenTax is throwing an error and is preventing an end user from completing an action. It’s your job to troubleshoot and determine what is causing the error. Often you will be required to step the code to find the error. Another example of an SR might be that you need to build a public facing form that will be used by taxpayers. These types of SRs will require meetings, development, testing, and support. Some days, but not very often, you will work past scheduled working hours to move changes to production if those changes cannot be migrated safely during work hours.
