About The Position

Progressive Life Center (PLC) is one of the mid-Atlantic’s largest and most respected non-profit agencies serving vulnerable children and families. PLC is recognized for its pioneering work in developing culturally responsive approaches to mental health and child and family development. Our services include foster and kinship care, after school educational programs, mentoring, adoption placement, independent living skills, parenting support, mental health counseling and crisis hotlines. PLC has offices in Washington DC, Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. This position will be based in Baltimore, MD. Program Summary: The NIA - Foster Care program provides comprehensive long-term temporary child placement services.  NIA places children from birth to twenty-years old in the care of trained and certified families while they heal, adjust, and prepare for a permanent home.  The mission is to minimize the time each of our children spends waiting for this permanent home. Position Description: Progressive Life Center is seeking a Licensed Social Worker to provide individual and family therapeutic intervention to clients and families. The incumbent will be responsible for case management, and maintaining confidential, comprehensive clinical case files; providing relevant crisis intervention and advocacy services; conduct intakes and matching of new referrals; conduct psychosocial assessments and home studies; assist clients in identification and coordination of utilization of appropriate community resources; and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university.
  • MD Licensed Bachelor Social Worker or Licensed Master Social Worker.
  • Two (2) years child welfare experience.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication.
  • Skills in formulating diagnostic statements, treatment plans, and permanency plans.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Owner of reliable vehicle.
  • Certificate in NTU Service Delivery Model within one (1) year of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is desirable.
