Complex is seeking a powerhouse Social Media Manager who brings a highly creative, forward-thinking lens to how we launch products across all categories. This role will work directly with the Director of Marketing to plan, organize, and execute upcoming drops, shaping how each rollout comes to life on organic social. We’re looking for a uniquely creative social media wizard: someone who doesn’t just follow trends, but reimagines them, brings bold ideas to the table, and knows how to translate product stories into compelling, culture-driven content.

Requirements

  • Experience in Social Commerce: Proven experience in managing and executing social commerce and retail strategies across all social platforms for a large retail brand or media company.
  • Retail & E-commerce Knowledge: Strong background in retail and e-commerce, with an understanding of how social media integrates with sales funnels, product launches, and editorial content and video.
  • Content Creation Expertise: Experience collaborating with editorial, creative, video, and marketing teams to produce compelling shoppable content and storytelling assets.
  • Data-Driven Mindset: Strong analytical skills with the ability to track, analyze, and report on key performance metrics and how it ties back to conversion of the shoppable site.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse teams (editorial, marketing, e-commerce, influencers) to ensure cohesive strategies that align with broader business goals.
  • Creative & Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically about content and campaigns, while also being creative in product integrations and storytelling that resonates with target audiences.
  • Trend Awareness: Up-to-date knowledge of the latest trends in social media, e-commerce, and retail, with the ability to adapt quickly to new tools, technologies, and platform features.

Responsibilities

  • Social Strategy: Work with the Director of Marketing to develop and execute social commerce and retail initiatives across the key @ComplexShop social platforms (e.g., Instagram, TikTok, and emerging channels), ensuring seamless alignment with editorial, social media, and e-commerce objectives. Drive innovation in social commerce trends and emerging platforms.
  • Content Creation: Collaborate closely with the creative team to create compelling, shoppable content (e.g., vertical video, brand campaigns, product and lifestyle content, retail and event coverage, influencers) that adheres to brand guidelines and is optimized for each Complex Shop social platform. Ensure seamless, authentic product integration into daily content to drive both engagement and conversions.
  • Platform Optimization: Oversee and optimize the use of social commerce tools such as Instagram Shopping, TikTok Shop, and other emerging platforms. Identify and capitalize on new opportunities for engagement, sales, and audience growth within the social commerce ecosystem including community management in direct messages.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with editorial, e-commerce, and marketing teams to align product rollouts with editorial and social content strategies and broader business objectives. Ensure a cohesive and consistent approach that maximizes impact across all channels.
  • Data-Driven Insights & Performance Optimization: Monitor and analyze key performance metrics (e.g., conversion rates, impressions, engagement rates, and views) to assess the effectiveness of social commerce strategies. Use data and insights to continuously refine content, optimize strategies, and maximize both engagement and sales.
