About The Position

Under the supervision of the Director of Disability Services, the Social Club Coordinator develops and facilitates client-inspired recreational activities, groups, and programs that meet the social, emotional, and cognitive needs of the Shupin Community. The Social Club Coordinator organizes on-site activities and off-site excursions, seeking to build a sense of community while enriching the lives of residents and social club members.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred
  • One (1) year of experience planning, coordinating, and facilitating activities and events
  • Current driver’s license, car registration, and auto insurance
  • Must have experience using MS Office applications and general computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the Jewish community, holidays, and cultural activities is not required but is helpful when coordinating or participating in activities with the Jewish Community

Responsibilities

  • Making use of community and agency resources, develops a rich array of regularly scheduled programs for small and large groups in consideration of client needs, abilities, and interests to help them develop their independent living skills and integrate into the Jewish and general community
  • Identifies and secures volunteer and/or professional facilitators of specialized activities and provides logistical support in organizing and facilitating the activities
  • Maintains positive and collaborative relationships with partner agencies in the Bay Area
  • Participates and documents all activities, monitoring participants to ensure full participation and safety
  • Co-creates and publicizes an electronic monthly calendar of activities and events and a quarterly newsletter
  • Curates and collaboratively plan social activities for and with residents of the Shupin Community
  • Recruits clients for activities, events, and trips through outreach
  • Coordinates and leads Shupin Community programming to increase client social skills
  • Handles intake/onboarding for special programs including Special Connections and PEERS
  • Acts as a Special Connections dating coach and PEERS instructor by educating participants on dating and social skills
  • Responds to activity and event inquiries and participates in screening potential participants and taking new members into programs
