About The Position

This position performs a variety of complex management and administrative functions. Primary responsibility is the management, budget control, and assessment and enhancement of the Tribal Social and Human Service programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Public Administration, Business Management, or related field, and five years of experience in a management position that required the supervision of staff providing related services -OR- an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Knowledge of: Operations and inter-relationships among a wide range of Tribal social service programs and associated regulations.
  • Experience in: Policy formulation, program development, staff direction/supervision and training, development of comprehensive plans, effective accomplishment of program objectives, and maximum utilization of physical and human resources.
  • Ability to: Meet and deal with a variety of managers, supervisors, clients, and the general public.
  • Administer budgets, and provides financial guidance and assistance.
  • Communicate effectively using both verbal and written skills.
  • Work independently toward broad objectives and be self-motivated to accomplish them.
  • Establish, and maintain effective interpersonal relationships, and communicate with a variety of personnel.
  • Plan, direct, controls, and coordinates work in situations where numerous diverse demands are involved.
  • Plan and implement comprehensive program services.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for program planning, budget formulation, program execution, and program evaluation.
  • Facilitate committee meetings to develop long and short-range program goals and objectives.
  • Act as chief advisor to the Tribal Council or Chief Executive Officer on the planning and development of the Social and Human Service programs.
  • Coordinate services with federal, state, county, private and other Tribal programs.
  • Responsible for giving guidance and leadership to assigned projects and programs.
  • Liaison with outside peer organizations to promote awareness of Tribal interests and needs in assigned programs.
  • Includes membership in and/or attendance at meetings of tribal, state, regional, and national organizations.
  • Keep abreast of regulations and policies that govern programs and projects.
  • Includes tracking, analysis of impacts, and recommending action on legislation that affects assigned programs.
  • Monitor assigned programs, assess services, and modify program services as necessary.
  • Seek funding sources and prepare grant applications.
  • Interpret Federal/Tribal regulations, and develop program policies.
  • Evaluate the impact of new programs, formulating procedures as needed.
  • Supervise staff, develop workplans, identity appropriate staff development activities, address grievances, and evaluate performance.
