About The Position

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Slitter Entry Operator is responsible for setting up and operating high-speed equipment with robotic elements to form or cut steel to specified dimensions and specifications. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, mechanically skilled, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining a commitment to safety and quality.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Manufacturing or industrial experience preferred.
Ability to read and write English; maintain production records and logs; perform basic math including addition, subtraction, decimals, and fractions; experience with measuring devices such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers; ability to operate forklifts, cranes, and other necessary equipment.
Detail-oriented, ability to work independently, strong problem-solving skills.
Regular, full-time, predictable attendance; commitment to lead and promote safe work practices per regulatory and company policy.
Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles for support over time without fatigue.
Constant movement and use of limbs; requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
Ability to remain stationary for several hours when necessary.
Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push, and pull; must be able to lift up to 60 lbs.
Ability to stand for 10–12 hours.
Ability to perform work in a plant/manufacturing environment.
Other physical requirements as necessary for the role.

Responsibilities

Observe all safety and LOTO rules to operate equipment efficiently and effectively.
Perform advanced setup and calibration of all equipment.
Inspect materials for quality issues before, during, and after production.
Record and report deficiencies in quality to supervisors or the quality department.
Maintain equipment tooling and tools necessary for job completion.
Diagnose equipment and quality problems while minimizing scrap and delays.
Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain clean and safe work areas.
Complete reports related to production, changeovers, and scrap material.
Assist maintenance with repairs and preventive maintenance (PM) of equipment.
Participate in continuous improvement programs to enhance efficiency and quality.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
