About The Position

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Slitter Entry Operator is responsible for setting up and operating high-speed equipment with robotic elements to form or cut steel to specified dimensions and specifications. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, mechanically skilled, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining a commitment to safety and quality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Manufacturing or industrial experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and write English; maintain production records and logs; perform basic math including addition, subtraction, decimals, and fractions; experience with measuring devices such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers; ability to operate forklifts, cranes, and other necessary equipment.
  • Detail-oriented, ability to work independently, strong problem-solving skills.
  • Regular, full-time, predictable attendance; commitment to lead and promote safe work practices per regulatory and company policy.
  • Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles for support over time without fatigue.
  • Constant movement and use of limbs; requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
  • Ability to remain stationary for several hours when necessary.
  • Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push, and pull; must be able to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for 10–12 hours.
  • Ability to perform work in a plant/manufacturing environment.
  • Other physical requirements as necessary for the role.

Responsibilities

  • Observe all safety and LOTO rules to operate equipment efficiently and effectively.
  • Perform advanced setup and calibration of all equipment.
  • Inspect materials for quality issues before, during, and after production.
  • Record and report deficiencies in quality to supervisors or the quality department.
  • Maintain equipment tooling and tools necessary for job completion.
  • Diagnose equipment and quality problems while minimizing scrap and delays.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain clean and safe work areas.
  • Complete reports related to production, changeovers, and scrap material.
  • Assist maintenance with repairs and preventive maintenance (PM) of equipment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
