At Disney, we are storytellers. In technology, this group works on enabling that storytelling. We need an engineer on the System Performance and Reliability Engineering team (SPEAR). Requirements

  • Experience with Build/Release skills - you will shadow work with product development teams across the enterprise to maintain code delivery SDLC pipelines
  • Have knowledge of monitoring tools - you will work on ensuring the tools that keep monitoring are up and effective at notifying guest- facing issues.
  • Have expert team communication skills - you can articulate well, to ensure that the team understands and approves your solutions.
  • Have expert technical fundamentals - you must have knowledge of unix systems and unix administration duties
  • Have experience in the public cloud - you have experience launching products in a hosting solution, e.g. (Google, AWS, Azure, SalesForce) or private cloud systems.
  • Have experience in Infrastructure as Code ( IAAS ) - you subscribe to Infrastructure as code mindset (Terraform, Helm, Chef)
  • Previous internship or technical project experience
  • Currently enrolled undergraduate student in an accredited college/university, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, Information Technology or related field.
  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program AND returning to school the semester/quarter following the internship OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
  • Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
  • Fully available from Monday through Friday for the duration of the internship, 40 hours each week
  • Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the Glendale, CA area
  • Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work

Nice To Haves

  • Experienced with at least one of the following languages: Golang or Python
  • Familiarity with NodeJs, Java
  • Have worked with CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins or Gitlab
  • Preferred experience with alerting and monitoring tools such Appdynamics and Splunk
  • Familiarity with: SDLC Build and Release processes Building docker images
  • Container orchestration: Kubernetes and ECS
  • Proficiency with one of the following cloud providers: AWS, Google
  • Experience with Database technology, e.g. MySQL, Aurora, SQL Server, MongoDB, Dynamo DB
  • Some experience with profiling or evaluating the performance of services
  • Experience creating scripts with JMeter
  • Proficiency with: Terraform, Helm or Chef
  • Networking basics (routing, firewalls, AWS security groups)
  • Troubleshooting / analysis of applications: Splunk, appdynamics, grafana, etc
  • OS performance troubleshooting and ability to install and configure operating system packages
  • Familiarity with Oauth2
  • Security principles on patching, compliance, change control process

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and maintain SDLC pipelines
  • Create/maintain/improve/troubleshoot monitoring technologies
  • Create/maintain/improve/troubleshoot infrastructure technologies (cloud and on prem)
  • Create/maintain/improve documentation on the technologies that the team builds
  • Shadow operation team members in their areas of subject matter expertise
