About The Position

The Site Human Resources (HR) and Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing a blend of HR and payroll functions to support onsite employees. This role partners with external vendors, site leadership, and employees onsite at the plant to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, drive administrative efficiency, and deploy HR and payroll best practices. Local candidates only. In This Role, You Will: Act as the vital link and key resource for employee support, HR, payroll, and the corporate office to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and compliance. Review employee time and attendance, timesheets, leave and time off requests, coordinate activities leading to the preparation of payroll, troubleshoot issues, and execute corrections in the Insperity portal to ensure high level of accuracy. Verify employee works hours, overtime, call-out hours, and timesheet punches for accuracy weekly. Ensure adherence to all federal and state payroll tax laws and regulations. Collaborate with Managers and their employees onsite at the chemical plant to answer questions about pay, deductions and garnishments, time off requests, time off accrual, company policies and procedures. Champion a positive, respectful, and inclusive site culture through daily employee interactions and consistent HR support. Promote employee engagement by supporting site communications, recognition efforts, and morale initiatives. Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive payroll information, employee data, and proprietary financial and compensation information. Design, run, and maintain reports in Insperity as well as related internal reports. Conduct new employee orientation meetings, verify Form I9 identification documents, facilitate onboarding, offboarding, benefits enrollment, and maintain accurate human resource records and documentation. Act as the liaison between corporate and Arcanum employees onsite at each of the chemical plants, respond to requests for assistance in a timely manner, troubleshoot problems, and escalate issues to corporate as needed. Comply with all environmental, health and safety related best practices, policies, and procedures, including process safety management (PSM). Diligently adhere to and fulfill all Responsible Care® requirements, demonstrate a steadfast commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and ethical practices in all aspects of your position within the organization.

Requirements

  • HS diploma or GED and bachelor’s degree in human resources preferred, or combination of human resource generalist experience and related secondary education.
  • 3-7 years of experience in a professional human resource role that included payroll functions.
  • Previous experience supporting an hourly nonexempt workforce in an industrial or chemical manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of HR best practices, state and federal employment laws, a strong understanding of employee benefits with experience communicating benefits information to employees.
  • Hands-on experience processing payroll for multi-locations or multiple entities preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt methods in response to new information, changing conditions, and unexpected obstacles.
  • Must demonstrate a positive, solution-oriented attitude, model company values and reinforce expected workplace behaviors.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality while remaining approachable and employee focused.
