About The Position

Schaefer Sign Works, located in Indianapolis, IN, is seeking an apprentice Sign Maker to join our expanding team. Experience with Printed and Vinyl Cut Graphics would be a plus but not required. Experience in surveying, removing, installing, and servicing various sign projects. The environment for this position is primarily in the field but will involve some in-shop work from time to time (25%). Candidates must be able to work independently, and act as required by the duties and responsibilities given to them. This position requires general construction and/or mechanical knowledge. This can be a physically demanding position requiring hands-on abilities and use of tools and equipment to complete the required field service assignments. The work includes both interior and exterior work during all seasons and weather conditions. The best matched candidate would have 2+ years of experience in sign installation and service or in a transferable role with similar skills. No two days are the same in this role, lots of variety. Learn new technologies, skills, and techniques to become a better sign-making professional.
Good Driving Record
Driver's License

Nice To Haves

Experience with Printed and Vinyl Cut Graphics
Experience in surveying, removing, installing, and servicing various sign projects.
2+ years of experience in sign installation and service or in a transferable role with similar skills.
Welding.
Concrete or Masonry
Vehicle wrap installation experience.

Responsibilities

Sign production and Installation
Full-time availability (40 hours/week)
Consult / interface with customers to ensure meeting quality and scope of expectations.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of manufacturing/production area.
Assist in maintaining company signage equipment.
Accurately keep track of electronic and paper records related to jobs.
Willingness to do outdoor, customer location, and vehicle, as well as “in shop”, fabrication and installations.
Ability to lift 75 lbs.
