About The Position

The Mold Maker Apprentice assists in the construction, repair, and maintenance of molds used in manufacturing processes such as plastic injection molding or die casting. This entry-level role combines hands-on shop work with structured on-the-job training to develop skills in machining, blueprint reading, mold assembly, and precision measurement. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the fabrication, assembly, and fitting of molds and mold components Operate manual and CNC machines (mills, lathes, grinders, EDM) under supervision Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical specifications Measure and inspect parts using precision tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators) Disassemble, clean, repair, and reassemble molds Support troubleshooting of mold issues in production Maintain organized and safe work areas Follow company safety procedures and quality standards Participate in classroom training or apprenticeship coursework (if applicable) Required Qualifications: High school diploma or GED Basic math skills (algebra, geometry, measurements) Mechanical aptitude and interest in manufacturing Ability to read technical drawings (preferred but not required) Strong attention to detail Willingness to learn and take direction Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs Term: The term of the apprenticeship will be four years of on-the-job-learning with an attainment of 8,000 hours supplemented by the required hours of related instruction. Shift Hours : 6:00am-4:30pm Monday-Friday Work Environment : Fast-paced, team-oriented environment focused on quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Physical Demands: Ability to lift 50 pounds and be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, and without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of the individual or others.
