Under general supervision of the Director of the Disability Resource Center, incumbents in this position provide interpreting services for campus events, instructional classes or related instructional settings and activities involving standard complexity factors such as the type of communication system needed, difficulty of subject matter, speed of interpreting required, and number of consumers served simultaneously. The position is responsible for delivering high quality, accurate interpretation within the framework of professional standards. The incumbent makes independent decisions at the time of interpretation about the most effective methods to use for the delivery of sign language interpreting services. The Disability Resource Center (DRC) is a central service unit within Student Affairs. The DRC consults with the campus community to promote welcoming environments and facilitate equal opportunity for students with disabilities in their academic courses, campus services, and all student programs and activities. The DRC collaborates with students to identify and eliminate potential and real barriers to accessibility by promoting inclusive design, providing reasonable accommodations, and assessing effectiveness.
