About The Position

As a Shipping Specialist, you will be responsible for coordinating daily shipping requirements for both inbound and outbound freight, shipping product internationally to customers, resolving discrepancies, and working closely with the Warehouse Supervisor and / or Manager to meet customer demand. The position requires wide degree of latitude in planning and demonstration of assignments following policy and / or practices. Major Areas of Accountability Create and execute plans to optimize freight movements to achieve supply chain efficiency for consumer products and minimize freight costs. Communicate effectively with Sales and internal/external customers to ensure timely delivery of product. Resolve issues as they arise in a timely manner. Assists with customer returns and investigates any shipping/receiving issues. Ensure compliance with Multiplex Welbilt processes and programs including Government trade compliance programs. Provide direction to floor personnel for all shipping/receiving activities. Allocate and release orders to floor for processing and shipment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel and other relevant MS software.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to interact effectively with customers.
  • Ability to analyze data and problem solve creatively leveraging internal and external resources.
  • Experience in logistics/transportation network and understanding of Less than Truckload and Truckload modes, milk-runs, closed loop solutions, pool distribution, and claims management.
  • Advanced knowledge of shipping standards for truck freight
  • This position is fast paced and requires employee to spend time in various areas on the warehouse floor and an office environment.
  • The ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all day-to-day network logistic activities of IB/OB shipments, carriers and rate requests while maintaining compliance with the approved processes and programs.
  • Create and issue customs documents, as required.
  • Work with Sales and customer on trade compliance issues and questions
  • Create and issue HAZMAT compliant shipping documents and ensure compliance with DOT HAZMAT CFR 149 standards.
  • Perform manual freight quotes and provide freight cost estimates as requested.
  • Manage freight claim process including filing claims and settlement agreements.
  • Work with customers to execute expedited shipping requests.
  • Provide expertise and execution to evaluate shipping methods for product, selecting the appropriate shipping method (truck, rail, air, and ocean) for orders.
