About The Position

The Shipping & Receiving Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the accuracy and efficiency of warehouse documentation and inventory processes within the Warehouse Management System (WMS). This role checks data for accuracy, solves problems when things don’t line up, and keeps others informed about inventory status. As a team leader, the position supervises clerical staff, drives performance through coaching and support, and fosters a collaborative and accountable work environment. The Team Lead plays a critical role in maintaining operational continuity, identifying process improvement opportunities, and upholding company standards in shipping and receiving activities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in shipping and receiving, an administrative, clerical, or office role required; experience in transportation or warehousing preferred.
  • 1-3 years prior leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Dependable, punctual, and organized.
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and lift up to 15 pounds as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with WMS systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the accuracy and integrity of data entered in the WMS, ensuring alignment with physical inventory and shipping documentation.
  • Conduct regular audits of WMS data against physical logs to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Review and validate documentation related to shipments, including Bills of Lading and release logs, to ensure compliance and completeness.
  • Identify and escalate systemic issues in order processing or inventory tracking, collaborating with team members to implement corrective actions.
  • Support process improvement initiatives by analyzing audit findings and recommending operational enhancements.
  • Lead and mentor the Shipping & Receiving team, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex issues, providing guidance and resolution strategies.
  • Monitor team performance through audits and KPIs, delivering constructive feedback and coaching.
  • Coordinate shift transitions to ensure seamless continuity of operations and information flow.
  • Champion compliance with company policies, safety protocols, and operational standards.
  • Collaborate with leadership to implement process improvements and drive operational excellence.
