About The Position

Reata Engineering & Machine Works, Inc. (“Reata”), a state-of-the-art contract manufacturer specializing in comprehensive machining and assembly services, is seeking a Shipping & Receiving Manager. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all inbound and outbound logistics operations within our precision manufacturing environment. Overview The Shipping & Receiving Manager ensures the efficient flow of materials from suppliers to production and from production to customers, while maintaining strict compliance with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485, AS9100:2016, and ITAR requirements. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for supervising personnel, improving processes, and ensuring accuracy, compliance, and on-time delivery. Skills Our Shipping & Receiving Manager must possess advanced logistics and leadership capabilities tailored to a high-tech CNC machining environment. Candidates must demonstrate: Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems and ERP platforms Expertise in inventory control and cycle count management Experience coordinating domestic and international shipping Understanding of aerospace, medical, and defense compliance requirements Ability to interpret shipping documentation, purchase orders, and technical drawings Proficiency with material handling equipment (forklift, pallet jack, etc.) Strong analytical skills to evaluate freight costs and operational efficiency Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills An understanding of metals and machined components is critical to ensure proper handling, packaging, and shipment integrity. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s preferred)
  • 5+ years experience in shipping, receiving, or logistics in manufacturing
  • 2+ years logistics management experience
  • Strong ERP and warehouse management experience
  • Experience with freight carriers and freight forwarders
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, medical, or semiconductor industries
  • Familiarity with export compliance and international shipping
  • Lean or supply chain certifications
  • Experience operating in AS9100 environments

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all shipping and receiving operations
  • Supervise and evaluate Shipping & Receiving Specialists
  • Ensure on-time shipment of all customer orders
  • Develop and maintain SOPs to improve workflow and reduce costs
  • Lead logistics planning and daily prioritization
  • Maintain accurate inventory records
  • Oversee cycle counting and discrepancy resolution
  • Ensure FIFO discipline where applicable
  • Analyze trends in inventory performance
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485, AS9100:2016, and ITAR regulations
  • Maintain complete and accurate shipping documentation
  • Prepare for audits and support quality initiatives
  • Manage relationships with freight carriers and forwarders
  • Negotiate shipping terms and monitor freight costs
  • Coordinate domestic and international shipments
  • Oversee use of company delivery vehicle
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Improve shipping lead times
  • Optimize warehouse layout and material flow
  • Implement Lean logistics practices
  • Review incoming and outgoing shipment schedule
  • Confirm priority shipments and deadlines
  • Ensure work area is safe and organized
  • Supervise unloading and inspection of deliveries
  • Verify purchase orders, certifications, and quantities
  • Resolve discrepancies with vendors
