About The Position

The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for coordinating all shipping and receiving activities to ensure timely and accurate processing of inbound and outbound shipments. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

Previous experience in shipping and receiving or logistics operations.
Knowledge of industry terminology, including BOL, LTL, FTL, DVIRS, Live Load, Drop & Hook, Wash Out, Dock Lock, and Manifest.
Proficiency with computer systems and software, including Sietrade and TeamViewer.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work effectively with diverse personalities and in a fast-paced environment.
Physical capability to walk between trailers in yard, trucks, and throughout the warehouse areas.
This is a drug-free workplace. All candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and be willing to submit to a national background check.

Responsibilities

Check in drivers and review all shipping and receiving paperwork for accuracy and completion.
Locate Bills of Lading (BOLs) and attach appropriate documentation packets for each driver.
Ensure that drivers properly sign all BOLs before departure.
Answer and direct incoming calls for both the Grand Rapids and Battle Creek locations.
Monitor the Battle Creek location via the camera system; print and distribute paperwork remotely as needed.
Confirm that all trailers arriving and departing match the corresponding paperwork.
Ensure that trucks are not onsite longer than two hours to prevent fines, including coordinating with warehouse staff and monitoring dock activity.
Foster positive interactions with drivers to support a smooth and efficient workflow.
Operating a forklift as needed.
