About The Position

Coordinates and executes shipping and logistics activities in preparing components and vessels for shipment, both domestically and internationally. This role is responsible for preparing all product for shipment and ensuring quality of crating and packaging, accuracy of shipments and documentation, and transportation cost control and on-time pickup and deliveries.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 (two) years of proven, progressive job-related experience in shipping and logistics.
  • Prior experience of shipping in a manufacturing / industrial environment
  • Strong communication skills; verbal, written as well as listening skills. Able to successfully communicate to various levels within the organization.
  • Possess strong IT skills (such as MS Office, Word, ERP, Export Document Software, etc.)
  • Possess a high level of professionalism when interacting with employees, management, or carriers and vendors.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and successfully juggle competing priorities.
  • Possess a high level of attention to detail & accuracy, particularly with detailed shipping protocols and documentation.
  • Possess strong problem solving and creative thinking skills.
  • Possess strong integrity and ethical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates shipping activities and maintains accurate records, including recording weights and dimensions for BOL and shipment documentation.
  • Takes pictures of all phases of the shipping process, including wrapping, boxing, banding of crates, and product once loaded on trucks or containers.
  • Ensures accuracy of parts and material shipping for a specific furnace or project.
  • Assists with and provides guidance on packaging and crating standards.
  • Prepares shipments by coordinating broker and carrier truck schedules for multiple loads using bills of lading.
  • Reviews space requirements and positioning of components in boxcars, containers, and trucks.
  • Confirms identifying labels are accurate and securely attached to each crate or component for shipment.
  • Confirms all components not enclosed by Conestoga or box trailer are properly tarped by the carrier.
  • Inspects material handling equipment for visible defects and notifies maintenance personnel or supervision of needed repairs; assists with equipment lockout procedures when required.
  • Supports daily shipping priorities and workflow planning in coordination with operations.
  • Participates in continuous improvement initiatives to standardize shipping and logistics processes.
  • Responsible for adhering to all ISO 9001 procedures, work instructions, and documentation requirements.
  • Communicates shipping requirements, priorities, and updates to internal teams and external partners.
  • Maintains compliance with organizational policies and applicable regulations.
