About The Position

The Shipping Lead is responsible for overseeing daily shipping operations to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient order fulfillment. This role coordinates workflow within the shipping department, supervises team members, and ensures compliance with company standards and safety regulations. The Shipping Lead acts as a key point of contact between warehouse staff, carriers, and other departments to resolve issues and maintain smooth logistics operations.

Requirements

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with Management and department team
  • 2–5 years of experience in shipping, warehouse, or logistics operations, with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role
  • Strong knowledge of shipping procedures, carrier systems, and documentation (e.g., bills of lading, packing lists)
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory software, and basic computer applications (e.g., Excel, email)
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to train, motivate, and manage a team
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to problem-solve quickly and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and external carriers
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in warehouse operations
  • Ability to lift and move packages as required (may include up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods
  • Warehouse Powered Industrial Equipment experience desired or willing to get certified on all equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Verify selected products against order specifications to ensure accuracy
  • Cross-reference item numbers, quantities, and details prior to shipment
  • Identify and resolve errors or discrepancies proactively
  • Provide leadership to warehouse staff to promote safety, quality, and performance
  • Coordinate shipping schedules, manage downtime, and optimize team utilization
  • Drive continuous improvement in operational efficiency and problem resolution
  • Ensure achievement of customer order fulfillment targets
  • Oversee accurate, on-time shipping and receiving of all materials
  • Track, trace, and expedite orders to support smooth inbound and outbound warehouse flow
  • Address customer complaints promptly and perform root cause analysis for resolution
  • Follow up with carriers to ensure OTIF (On-Time, In-Full) delivery performance
  • Deliver constructive feedback and support team development
  • Conduct performance evaluations to enhance employee growth and team capability
  • Enforce warehouse policies, monitor attendance, and administer corrective actions when necessary
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, including OSHA and DOT regulations
  • Collaborate with management to improve efficiency, reduce errors, and build a skilled workforce
