POSITION SUMMARY: The Shipping and Receiving / Warehouse department is a fast-paced environment. The Lead influences other team members to ensure finished products are loaded into freight, warehouse storage, or designated areas in a safe and proper manner. The Shipping / Receiving / Warehouse department works closely with the RTE department to transfer finished products into designated locations, including Processing, Roasting/WIP, and other departments. The department also works directly with truck drivers and complies with all Nichols Farms Security, Visitor, and Business policies. The Shipping department represents the final stage before product shipment and requires close attention to final preparation to ensure excellent quality standards. The Shipping / Receiving / Warehouse Lead assists the Shipping & Receiving / Warehouse Supervisor by supporting workflow, monitoring operations, and ensuring shipment security. Safety Ability: Promote a "safety first" culture by following all safety rules, including Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, Fall Protection, and Hazard Communication. Report all near misses, injuries, and incidents to the Shift Supervisor, Production Supervisor, or Leads.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience in a food manufacturing and warehouse/shipping/receiving environment.
  • Proficient computer skills, including the ability to use organizational computer systems and email platforms.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of personnel and company information.
  • Ability to operate industrial equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, yard dogs, electronic pallet jacks, and boom lifts.
  • Bilingual with the ability to read and write English preferred.
  • Ability to work any day and/or shift, including weekends and holidays, as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Document and communicate information and provide pass-downs to Supervisors and the Department Director.
  • Assist the Supervisor with scheduling assignments for team members.
  • Perform and guide team members in general housekeeping within the warehouse.
  • Coach and train new and existing employees.
  • Conduct plant security checks and provide related training as required.
  • Train and provide assistance at the scale house for inbound and outbound traffic and freight.
  • Follow and comply with established procedures related to quality, sanitation, and safe work practices.
  • Create pick tickets, Bills of Lading (BOLs), and related documents in X3.
  • Provide department status updates on shipments and orders.
  • Validate orders at the end of the month.
  • Load trucks; stock the warehouse floor; and maintain returned products, pallets, and shelving.
  • Maintain pallet stability by properly stacking and shrink-wrapping products as needed.
  • Prepare goods for shipment into freight or designated locations.
  • Pick and audit orders using order sheets to build loads for transport, bulk, or route trucks.
  • Complete daily forklift inspection reports and maintain records onsite.
  • Ensure timely scanning and uploading of information.
  • Report any product discrepancies to the Supervisor or Department Director.
  • Examine and inspect containers, materials, and products to ensure packaging specifications are met.
  • Assist with or coordinate the fumigation process.
  • Evaluate designated team members and maintain performance documentation.
  • Track, log, and distribute packages and mail throughout the plant.
  • Assist and/or coach team members with Cycle Counting and Physical Inventory.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
