About The Position

The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor is responsible for the daily operation of the Shipping & Receiving Department and Outside Fabrication (OSF) area. This position is responsible for ensuring their team meets expectations in receiving, storing, packaging, processing, and distribution of materials, in conjunction with the scheduling of work orders, tools, equipment, maintenance, and the personnel needed to meet customer requirements and management objectives.

Requirements

Prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required
Proven experience leading a team
Knowledge of production processes, quality control, and techniques for maximizing the effective movement of products
Ability to speak in front of large groups including supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates
Ability to actively listen by giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking questions as appropriate
Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Routinely required to stand and walk; use hands to handle and feel; reach with arms and hands; as well as climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
Routinely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds
Routinely performs repetitive movements such as bending, twisting, reaching, lifting and pulling
Specific vision requirements include depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to wear all necessary safety equipment.
Routinely work in a noisy environment.
Ability to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment.
Routinely exposed to moving and mechanical parts and potential exposure to electrical shock.

Responsibilities

Identify, investigate, and resolve delays in shift operations, ensuring shipping deadlines are met.
Fulfill supervisory responsibilities including training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Ensure employee discussions, documentation, and performance evaluations are performed in accordance with company policies and procedures. Partners with Talent Management Retention (TMR) representative(s) when necessary.
Assist with activities related to incoming material shipments, incoming OSF orders, and transfer orders to and from SAPS Aluminum facilities.
Promote a safe work environment by monitoring activities in the Shipping & Receiving Department and OSF area.
Coordinate incoming OSF material inspections and conducts job closures after required inspections have taken place.
Follow ISO policies and procedures, as required.
Ensure incoming material is received within 24 hours, to ensure production and sales dates are met.
Develop and recommend changes to improve the efficiency, quality, and performance of the manufacturing process.
Ensure that the shipping bays are clean and clear at the end of shift.
Must be able to interact in person with peers and the public.
Must be able to handle high stress situations.
