About The Position

Supervise forklift operators and handle all aspects of shipping and receiving. May also need to handle certain aspects of customer service in absence of the Operation Manger and Customer Service Rep.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years experience as a Forklift Operator
  • Two years shipping experience.

Nice To Haves

  • College and/or related technical experience.
  • One year supervisory experience as a proven manager of at least five people.
  • Four years experience in the corrugated box industry.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Forklift Operators in the daily routine of loading/unloading trucks neatly and to the customer’s complete satisfaction.
  • Communicate daily with the Operations Manager in meeting our customers’ requirements. Keep upper management informed of problems or situations that may affect the performance of your department.
  • Enforce corrective action procedures when applicable and conduct meetings with the violating employees.
  • Conduct weekly Production/Safety meetings with departmental personnel.
  • Adheres to daily production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery and service goals. Communicate with necessary supervision to avoid problems between shift changes.
  • Improve career skills by enrolling yourself in seminars, technical courses, and related college courses, with approval of your manager.
  • Establish high morale within department by showing fairness, consistency, and an interest in employee problems. Maintain confidentiality.
  • Develop strong rapport with various freight lines.
  • Implement, maintain, and support all company policies and procedures, safety program, and good housekeeping.
  • Weekend work is to be expected during peak season (May-Sept).
  • Management may assign additional duties.
  • Directly supervises all employees assigned to the department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; conflict resolution; team building; coaching and leading employees to improve; addressing complaints and resolving problems; documentation; and setting an example of superior behavior, attitude and performance.
