About The Position

The Shipping-Receiving Specialist is responsible for overseeing the Shipping Department and the Receiving Department, and all activities associated with the shipment and receipt of goods.

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Some college is preferred.
  • Some logistics management experience.
  • Forklift license.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, or lifting and ability to carry items up to 50 lbs.
  • Infrequent stooping, kneeling, twisting, pushing, pulling of items weighing 200 lbs with the use of cranes.
  • Occasional repetitive movements using finger and hands for gripping pressure.
  • Required to wear safety boots.
  • Occasional wearing of safety glasses and gloves.
  • Frequently work indoors and around moving vehicles.
  • Infrequent exposure to temps less than 55 degrees, dust, disagreeable odors, intermittent noise greater than 85 dB wearing foam ear plugs, work with machinery with moving parts and be outdoors.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates logistics for all finished goods including inbound, outbound, import and export.
  • Selects carriers and schedules trucks.
  • Controls logistics costs
  • Notifies stakeholders of items shipped, delays and tracking numbers.
  • Completes all paperwork, including customs documentation.
  • Operates tractors to safely and properly load trucks as required.
  • Audits all freight bills for accuracy and handles billing disputes.
  • Maintains compliance associated with vehicles assigned to the Shipping Department
  • Maintains flatbeds.
  • Ensures state specific DOT rules and regulations are followed and prepares for inspections and audits.
  • Manages paperwork required for vehicle operation (mileage and vehicle inspection).
  • Monitors driver's time.
  • Obtains necessary permits.
  • Assists parts department with international documentation as needed.
  • Ensures work areas are clean and orderly.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Unloads trucks and accounts for conformance of physical counts in alignment with receiving paperwork.
  • Identifies incoming product damage, and incoming product discrepancies.
  • Processes system receipt transactions and files packing slips.
  • Stages incoming product for proper put-away.
  • Performs 5-S activity to maintain a clean and orderly workspace.
