The Shipping & Receiving Materials Handler will verify and maintain records on incoming and outgoing shipments. Prepare items for shipment. Duties include assembling, addressing, stamping, and shipping merchandise or material; receiving, unpacking, verifying and recording incoming merchandise or material; and arranging for the transportation of products. Must take necessary action to minimize delay time and maximize production.

Requirements

Fork Truck Certification
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

Perform shipping and receiving duties.
Support the shipment of goods produced and the goods and supplies received to be used in or to aid in the production/storage of goods destined for sale to our customer base.
Responsible to make arrangements for pick-up by the carrier specified on the customer’s purchase order which is conveyed to the shipping clerk by final inspection via the shipping instructions.
Must verify packaging, labeling and inspect for damage on all incoming and outgoing product.
Must report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
Responsible for keeping an adequate supply of packaging & shipping materials on hand at all times.
Required to forward a requisition for packaging & shipping materials to the Department Supervisor for approval.
Operate forklift, overhead crane, manually operated lifting devices to load and unload trucks, move, transport, stack and store materials as needed.
Ability to accurately use measuring, weighing and counting scales.
Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
Perform alternate duties of truck driver to transport product between buildings, make pick-ups and deliveries to our suppliers for parts and raw materials using the company truck, as assigned.
Must maintain a good attendance record.
