Our FCC Environmental - Pinellas County Waste to Energy facility (WtE) is currently seeking a Shift Supervisor. A Waste to Energy (WtE) Shift Supervisor oversees the daily operations of a facility that converts municipal solid waste into usable energy, such as electricity or heat. This role is critical for ensuring safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operations during a designated shift. They will be responsible for directing and supervising Operations Department and other plant personnel to ensure the facility is operated and maintained in a proper, clean, safe, environmentally compliant and efficient manner in accordance with all Company policies, industry standards and environmental standards, under the direction of the Operations Manager or Plant Manager. Duties may include but are not limited to: Actively Monitor and control all plant systems including boilers, turbines, emissions control systems and residue handling systems. Ensure optimal performance of all waste combustion and energy generation processes. Disciplined compliance with operational procedures and equipment/industry standards for the safe and proper operation of the facility during assigned shift rotation. Supervision of the functional activities of the assigned operations work group to ensure the facility is operated in a proper, safe, productive, clean and compliant manner during assigned work shift. Closely monitor the production and maintenance activities of the WtE facility and assist in planning and executing both scheduled and unscheduled equipment repairs and maintenance activities, outage work as well as the timely completion of operating duties. Support the development of operating procedures and instructions. Assist in the evaluation and development of recommendations for plant improvements. Maintains and enforces Company policies and procedures, environmental compliance, and safety and health requirements. Establishes and sustains acceptable work standards for operations tasks and activities as well as behaviors and performance. Trains shift personnel in safety procedures and equipment use, plant operating procedures, and environmental standards and compliance. Implements corporate and plant training programs and ensures continued progress in the programs by shift personnel. Responsible for the enforcement and administration of the lockout/tagout system, confined space entry program, facility Hot work program as well as other safe work programs. Performs other administrative duties such as conducting performance appraisals, completing disciplinary forms, accident and equipment damage reports, approval of timesheets, and documentation of attendance and tardiness. Creates work requests through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Maintains an accurate log of facility operations, activities, and events. Makes frequent rounds of the facility to ensure proper operation of steam generation and turbine generator equipment, materials storage and handling, facility security, cleanliness, safety, and environmental compliance. Serves as the Plant Manager's representative during periods when site leadership team is off-site. Writes reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals as required or directed by facility operations Decisively and effectively directs personnel during all plant operations conditions including equipment upset conditions and equipment failures. Completes the Corporate and Plant Training Programs within the time frame prescribed. Responsible for maintaining acceptable team morale. Fosters and promotes a culture of teamwork and customer service between operational staff and all other plant staff. Ensures that the facility and all personnel operate safely at all times and promotes an environment whereby safety is a priority. Reads, understands, and applies information such as, lockout/tagout procedures, safety rules, job hazard analyses, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Communicates clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing; as well as communicates clearly whether using in-situ intercom system, two-way radio, or face to face. Anticipates typical problems, identifies potential or recurring problems, and takes appropriate action. Troubleshoot equipment and assists in diagnosing problem areas. Operates other equipment including, but not limited to, industrial forklifts, manlifts, skid steer type loaders, and other mobile equipment. Thoroughly and promptly investigates any accidents or near misses in conjunction with management team to ensure that any unsafe practices or conditions are addressed and eliminated immediately. Performs other duties as assigned. Maintain positive work environment by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, vendors, co-workers and management.
