As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for the proper, safe and compliant maintenance of a Waste to Energy (WTE) power generation facility.

Requirements

  • High School diploma (GED)
  • Must have the ability to work a rotating shift schedule during facility outages
  • Proven mechanical abilities in previous jobs, 3 to 5 years of mechanical background or experience working in a construction or heavy industrial type environment
  • Proficient with Oxy-Acetylene and Plasma torch usage
  • Ability to read and record measurements with precision
  • Licenses as required by Local, State, Federal, Environmental and/or Health/Safety Regulatory agencies.

Nice To Haves

  • Tech School or Millwright Experience preferred
  • Qualified in structural welding preferred
  • Weld certifications preferred

Responsibilities

  • Initiates and completes work-orders and requisitions and documents all critical and or pertinent information on a routine basis
  • Ability to use and become proficient with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software (Tabware)
  • Available to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, Respond and report to work during off hours when emergency repairs are required and ability to be on call
  • Troubleshoot wide variety of industrial, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, diagnose problems, and make necessary repairs
  • Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards
  • Ability to don all necessary PPE and safely work at heights, confined spaces, and other precarious places
  • Ability to communicate effectively via radio using three-part communication
  • Actively participate and support operations functions as necessary, including but not limited to internal equipment inspections, fire watch, cleaning of work area(s), etc.
  • Use various Machine shop equipment such as a bandsaw, drill press, , stationary grinder, parts washer, etc.
  • Knowledge of welding practices, including but not limited to; SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, Brazing and Soldering processes
  • Operate mobile equipment including, but not limited to, industrial forklifts, manlifts, skid steer type loaders, telehandlers and other mobile equipment
  • Perform Preventative maintenance activities and other routine maintenance and repairs around facility grounds
  • Must be able to effectively respond to changing plant priorities when directed by your supervisor.
  • Utilize root-cause analysis skills to investigate breakdown and line stoppages collaborating with various teams and stakeholders
  • Prioritize work to ensure timely maintenance, repair and installation of equipment, tools, and utility systems to minimize production downtime and complete all required paperwork and documentation in the company’s computerized maintenance documentation program
  • Repair and/or maintain the operating condition of industrial production or processing machinery or equipment including inspection, assembly, disassembly, and replacement as necessary
  • Observe and evaluate the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions utilizing mechanical devices
  • Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational and safety performance standards.
  • Maintains work areas in a safe, clean and orderly manner, and performs post job cleanup.
  • Perform duties as directed by your supervisor in support of maintenance and operational departments to meet business needs.
  • When qualified, acts as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for facility systems and equipment, providing oversight of outside contractors as assigned for emergent and scheduled projects such as pressure part failures and boiler outages
  • Maintain positive work environment by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, vendors, co-workers and management.
  • Proficient knowledge, skills and abilities required to properly identify and safely and effectively use and maintain hand tools and portable power tools on a routine basis while performing maintenance tasks
  • Knowledge of operating equipment in a Waste-to-Energy facility or similar industry including but not limited to: Industrial boilers, combustion systems, steam distribution and High pressure valves and components, hydraulic systems, overhead refuse cranes, chain & flight conveyors, belt conveyors, hydraulic equipment, pneumatic equipment and various style pumps and power conversion and gear sets.
  • Communicates clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing; as well as communicate clearly whether using in-situ intercom system, two-way radio, or face to face
  • Follows standard safety and environmental procedures, correct safety, and environmental hazards, and report them to the Shift Supervisor immediately.
  • Reads, understands, and applies information such as lockout/tagout procedures, safety and environmental rules, job hazard analyses, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Maintains and follows all Company environmental compliance, health and safety requirements, policies, procedures, and rules within
  • Completes all required Environmental Management System and Compliance Training
  • Complete the Corporate and Plant Training Programs within the time frame prescribed
