About The Position

As a Shift Lead , you’ll be part of our Tools & Outdoor Manufacturing team located in Hampstead, MD . You will work in a manufacturing setting and help lead the team in performing key production tasks, such as powdered metal pressing, sintering, vibratory deburring, CNC machining, heat treat, powder support, and packaging. You’ll also get to: Ensur e work priorities and site objectives are met on the shift through providing effective direction and instructions to shop associates Oversee overall production process and ensuring optimal efficiency through observing the furnaces, monitoring the placement of parts, managing product flow between departments, and making adjustments to production equipment as needed Adher e to and prioritizing all safety protocols within each shift Assist in production, including covering required production areas for breaks, lunches and when production areas are support required makers Train new associates and cross training current employees Perfor m furnace checks to ensure equipment is operating properly Conduct process and quality checks to ensure parts are up to spec, including frequent visual inspection of compacted parts Perform emergency procedures as needed due to unplanned circumstances, such as power outages, loss of water pressure, furnace disruptions, and incidents involving other associates Troubleshoot operations problems within the departments including compaction, heat treat, CNC machining, vibratory deburring , and packout Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of manufacturing experience
  • Able to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Capable of reading and interpreting operation procedures, engineering drawings and quality plans
  • Strong orientation toward safety, quality, and continuous improvement, demonstrated by a work history of safe performance, accuracy and attention to detail in the work performed, and constructive problem solving and suggestions for improvement
  • Knowledge of and willingness to be involved in all powdered metal processes.
  • Training experience desirable
  • Knowledge of all quality inspection equipment (must be certified as a back-up quality tech within 180 days).
  • Forklift certified (or willing to become certified within 90 days)
  • Heat Treat certified (or willing to become certified within 180 days)
  • First Aid/First Responder trained (or willing to become trained within 180 days)
  • Able to handle continuous standing of 8 to 10 hours daily
  • Able to perform frequent lifting up to 33 lbs independently and up to 70 lbs with assistance
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with a One Team mindset
  • Able to work scheduled overtime as necessary
