About The Position

Faena New York, located at 500 West 18th Street, overlooking the High Line, will be synonymous with sophistication, glamour, breathtaking artwork, and cultural trendsetting, marking the resurgence of luxury nightlife experiences in New York. The Shift Engineer is responsible for performing maintenance and repairs to the building, guest rooms, back-of-house, and equipment throughout the property. This position ensures the consistent upkeep of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other building systems to ensure safety, efficiency, and a luxury environment for guests and colleagues.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in hotel engineering or facilities maintenance.
  • Knowledge of building systems, life safety, and preventative maintenance techniques.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and operate maintenance equipment safely.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety guidelines and NYC building codes.
  • Ability to read blueprints, equipment manuals, and safety documents.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
  • Detail-oriented with commitment to quality and guest satisfaction.
  • Good communication and teamwork across departments.
  • Flexibility to respond to varying schedules, demands, and emergencies.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical training or certification in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to guest room maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on all mechanical equipment including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevators, and fire safety systems.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and engineering spaces in safe and operational condition.
  • Complete daily shift reports and communicate work orders with the engineering team.
  • Assist with setup and breakdown of event spaces and support special project work.
  • Monitor BMS and respond to equipment alerts or alarms promptly.
  • Assist contractors and vendors during scheduled repairs and inspections.
  • Support efforts to maintain DOH, OSHA, and local compliance standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the engineering shop and all mechanical areas.
  • Rotate on-call responsibilities and respond to emergencies as required.
